Draftmaster Recumbent Automobile Racks

When we looked for an automobile rack to transport the recumbent trike we didn't have to look any further than Draftmaster, the leader in transporting long wheelbase cycles. Its inherent modular design makes it ideally suited and unlike roof racks making it necessary to hoist it up on the roof, it mounts on the back requiring minimal lifting.

Design
We were impressed with this racks unique modular design and the ability to lower it for convenient mount and dismount. It can be easily added to or adjusted to meet your specific needs. Most parts are constructed from Aluminum for its strength and lightweight properties.

Assembly
We received the rack via. UPS in three boxes. Once unpacked we found the assembly minimal with it consisting of two assemblies, which bolted together as a final assembly. The instructions were considered inadequate which Draftmaster claims their currently re- doing them but looking at the picture and speaking with the friendly helpful people at Draftmaster we finished in little more than an hour. Once assembled securing it to your vehicle is done with a 2" hitch mount. which is very quick and easy for mounting and dismounting the rack.

Trike mounting
This is a key feature of the Draftmaster rack. The rack incorporates an exclusive release mechanism which allows you to lower it to the ground for mounting and dismounting your trike. Once lowered you simply remove the front wheel, stand the trike straight up and roll it up to the rack, plug the forks into the quick- release on the top of the rail tighten it and secure the straps around the rear wheels. The final step is to raise the rack up approx. 1- foot when the sprung loaded locking mechanism engages keeping it raised from the ground.

Quality
All parts were finished with a durable black coating and fit together well.
