I mentioned this in a compilation post, but didn't get any traction and thought I'd give it its own space.  I am a little concerned about safety here...

The end of the tie rod has a bolt thing that attaches to an ball joint.  There is a nut between the tie rod and the joint.  There is also a funky bolt that goes INTO the ball joint.

Both the nut between the rod and the joint and the bolt in the joint are finger loose.

Should I torque these puppies down?

Yes, they should be tight enough not to open from road vibration, etc. About 5-6 lbs torque. Tie-rods sometimes have matched adjustment, loosening the locking nuts lets the tie-rod rotate for adjusting toe-in.

If it's possible, you may want to use a nylok nut to maintain security. I have just such a setup on mine but due to laziness, I failed to install the nylok nut the least time I assembled the trike. The bolt on one side had worked loose so there was nearly 3/8" of space and less than a 1/4" of bolt thread left engaged. The result was sloppy steering.

It took all of about 90 seconds to correct the situation, so much for laziness. But I imagine the corrections necessary for the results of that bolt coming completely undone would have taken significantly longer.
